THE VISION At 1O p.m. every evening, in hundreds of truck stops across the United States and Canada, followers of Jesus Christ gather somewhere in the truck stop for a time of prayer and study of God's Word. This concept is called The Crossroads Connection. Those who travel our nations highways know the reality. Far from being glamorous, life "on the road" is filled with pitfalls in the form of enticements that claim to have no consequences. After dinner and perhaps some exercise, the options become very few - especially if transportation is not available. Then there is the lure of "companionship." That is why truckstops, or the places where truckers stop often become playgrounds for those willing to meet those needs. Although followers of Christ are probably avoiding these pitfalls, keeping to themselves, shutting down the c.b., avoiding the t.v. rooms, calls to the bars, there needs to be an easier way to connect with fellow drivers. We, who are called to be lights of the world are often kept hidden under a basket." We, who are called to be the salt of the earth, are kept in the salt shaker. Some of us believe that this is about to change... THE PURPOSE ~ To pray for each other. ~ To encourage one another. ~ To facilitate accountability.
THE CALL TO COMMITMENT If you stay in a truckstop at night, or frequent them during the late evening hours we are asking you to commit to a change in your traveling lifestyle. At 10 p.m., if your schedule permits, grab your Bible go to the fuel desk and introduce yourself to anyone with a Bible in their hands. Find a place to sit down and pray for each other. Pray for the unbelievers in the truck stop. Spend time in God's Word. If no one is there, (after you've given it 10 minutes or so) head into the restaurant, sit down and spend 30 minutes in prayer and study. Should there be another driver sitting alone, l:)e sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading in order to know if you should invite them to join you. NOTE: (If there ts a truck stop chapel, go there first, see if the chaplain is available or if there are any services during that time.) THE CALL TO THE WORD & PRAYER "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman, who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth."2 Tim 2:15 "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 1 19:105 "...Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God." Eph. 6:17 "I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalm 1 19:1 1 "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching " Hebrews 10:24-25 THE CALL TO KEEP IT SIMPLE "Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen." 2 Tim. 2: 14 "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." Phil. 4:8 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two command ments." Matthew. 22:27-40
